Part 2 of Edward & Zahara – Zahara’s Henna Night.
Well for those of you keeping up with these wonderful celebrations you may have seen my previous post on the Loved Up Session with Edward & Zahara. Following their pre-wedding session we were delighted to photograph Zahara’s Henna Night part two of their wedding celebrations. One of the most beautiful things about eastern weddings is that they really know how to celebrate and make a festival out of this occasion by having multi-day celebrations throughout the week or month.
This was Edward & Zahara’s first celebration before the reception and was a beautiful evening organised by the Vallibhoy family at their home in Melbourne. The Henna night was a night of celebration for Zahara and her family and friends to come together to sing, dance, eat and bless the bride for married life. This is usually a small ceremony before the Wedding and Reception takes place in the bride-to-be’s home. In this pre-wedding ceremony, typically all the women will put a coloured powder on the couple and give them something sweet to eat. Each female will take take their turn to bless and wish the couple well.
Zahara’s family and friends took centre stage and it was stunning to see these beautiful women sing and perform a number of traditional dances in perfect harmony. What a stunning night full of vibrant colours, dancing, singing and delicious food. No one left until everyone was tuckered out! This is just a small sample of the photographs taken on the night so that you can enjoy and see some of the celebrations.
Stay posted for the third and final Part 3 of Edward & Zahara – The Reception.
